Redesigning this space, one of the biggest issues was that the fireplace was simply in the wrong spot. I removed it and replaced the space with another bank of windows. Now, that entire wall can open up to the outside. The room still needed a fireplace, so I had this one custom made to create a look that wouldnít be forgotten. It is 17" high and 8'long.

In designing this master suite I had to figure out how to open the space up to the beautiful views of the ocean and find a new home for the fireplace. Now the two rooms are opened up to each other and itís perfect for lounging or sleeping!
The style of this Malibu home was such a mix that it didnít know what it wanted to be. I immediately saw the potential that it had to be modern and architectural in style. Getting there wasnít easy as we had to replace the blue Spanish styled tiles on the roof with a bronzed colored metal roof, take all of the arches out and square the lines off, replace all of the doors and windows, and finish it off in an earthy colored smooth stucco. What a transformation!
Changing this 1980ís Spanish styled home in Malibu wasnít easy but by changing the roof to a bronze, metal finish and replacing all windows to metal and removing the archways, I was on my way to creating a more modern and architectural styled home.
By simply changing the finishes and colors in this room I was able to transform it completely!
This room was challenging as far as deciding what furniture to place in it with itís half rounded shape. I created a couch with a curve in it and used two overlapping animal hides for the rug under the coffee table to help work with the shape. From there, I changed all of the finishes and colors and I was done.
When it came time to redesign this staircase, I decided to open it up by removing the dry walled railing and replacing it with steel framed railing and clear glass inserts. I chose to cover the walls with smooth, raw stucco and I removed the stepped drywall and replaced it with a usable and very visually appealing book case with a rolling ladder.
To transform this den paint and stain did all of the work. I just painted the cabinetry and even lighting fixtures from brass to black , changed the hardware on the cabinets, and stained the wood floors in an ebony color.
When I went to redesign this living room, I simply stained the cabinetry and floors in an ebony color, changed the hardware on the cabinets and made the faux fireplace a semi real one with the help of an electric fireplace insert.
In this dining room I was able to transform it so much just with paint and stain on the floors. I kept the existing panels on the walls and painted a few of them out darker to create a sense of style and drama.
When I redesigned this kitchen, dining and living space I decided to open it up and create a lofty feel. I chose colors that would contrast each other to create a sense of drama and the wood floors keep it warm.
When redesigning this bathroom, I decided to use a green colored glass tile and mix it with wood flooring in order to modernize the space and still keep it feeling warm.
This kitchen was completely transformed. I used all Viking stainless steel appliances coupled with a dark stained wooden cabinetry and wood floors to keep it warm and modern.
Building this pool on the side of the hill was the hardest project that I have come upon so far. As I was building it I felt like I was building one of the great pyramids. It was so worth the challenge, as you can see the result was breathtaking and from inside of the house it looked like the house was built on water and it overlooked all of Los Angeles and the ocean!
This old patio used to be where Greta Garbo sun bathed naked. I decided to enclose the space to create a living room that would suite todayís celebrity!
You can see that although I completely transformed this bathroom I was able to leave the placement of all of the fixtures and still make an incredibly dramatic change.
When I decided to turn this bedroom into an office, I kept the old fireplace and refaced it with smooth concrete to update the look and feel. The fireplace kept the space warm and cozy. Then, I changed the colors and finishes and added another window for light and a view of downtown Los Angeles and I was done!
It was important for me to retain the history of the Greta Garbo estate, so when I added the second story, I stayed within the interesting curve of the footprint of the home. It turned the adobe style into a more architectural one.
I enclosed the patio of this condo in order to enlarge the living area and to create a nicer view. It went from old a dreary to lofty and hip!
I chose to paint this bedroom in a warm dark tone to keep it cozy and to create a calming mood.
When I approached redesigning this stairwell, I envisioned it to be a much more visual masterpiece that would create a very architectural feel and create a space that would be a great conversation piece.
This kitchen redesign took the space from 1980 to 2007! Everything was changed in the space. We went from granite and white washed cabinets to concrete and dark mahogany cabinetry, etc.
Simply by changing all of the fixtures and finishes this bathroom was completely transformed. Notice the mosaic tiles on the floor. It is one of the things that really made it special.
